Windsor Castle Estate Hit by Burglary, Vehicles Stolen Near Royal Family Residence
Burglars broke into the Windsor Castle estate grounds in October 2023, stealing a black Izuzu pickup and a red quad bike from a farm building on Crown Estate land. The incident occurred around 11:45 PM on October 13th.
The estate serves as the primary residence for Prince William, Catherine, Princess of Wales, and their three children, who live at Adelaide Cottage in Windsor, located just a few miles from the crime scene.
Thames Valley Police confirmed the incident and reported that the perpetrators fled toward a nearby town. No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.
This security breach follows a concerning pattern at Windsor Castle. In a previous incident on Christmas Day 2021, an armed intruder with a crossbow scaled the castle fence, threatening Queen Elizabeth II. The perpetrator was subsequently sentenced to nine years in prison for treason.
The recent break-in has raised concerns about security measures at royal residences, particularly given that the location houses the Prince and Princess of Wales and their young family. While royal security experts maintain that the residences are well-protected, the incident highlights ongoing challenges in securing these high-profile properties.
Neither Buckingham Palace nor Kensington Palace has provided official comment on the incident.
