
Team GB Olympic Star Harry Aikines-Aryeetey Headlines Family Open Days at Local Leisure Centres
Saxon Pool and Sandy leisure centres held free Family Open Days featuring Team GB sprint star Harry Aikines-Aryeetey, a Commonwealth Games gold medalist and European Championships triple gold winner. The Olympian participated in gym challenges and engaged with visitors through autograph sessions and photos.
The events, organized by Everyone Active in partnership with Central Bedfordshire Council, offered various free activities:
Saxon Pool and Leisure Centre featured:
- Inflatable swim sessions
- Bouncy castle activities
- Meet and greet with Active Monsters
- Personal training tasters
- Biceps gym challenge
Sandy Leisure and Sports Centre offered:
- Group exercise classes
- Les Mills Pilates launch
- Children's activities by TayPlay
- Face painting
- Chest press gym challenge
- Local business stalls
Free activities were available with optional donations to Breast Cancer Now, Everyone Active's charity partner.
Gary Foley, Everyone Active's contract manager, emphasized the importance of showcasing state-of-the-art facilities that improve physical and mental well-being in the local community.
Cllr Steven Watkins, Executive Member for Leisure Services, praised the events for highlighting the vital role of leisure centers in promoting health, fitness, and community engagement in Central Bedfordshire.
