
£150,000 Investment to Transform Knights Templar Sports Centre in Major Upgrade
Everyone Active will take over operations at Knights Templar Sports Centre in Baldock from April 1, 2025, investing £150,000 to upgrade facilities and enhance community access to fitness services.
The investment includes a complete renovation of the gym during summer 2025, featuring new state-of-the-art equipment and refreshed décor. Everyone Active and The Knights Templar School will also jointly fund the resurfacing of the 3G artificial pitch.
The sports centre, opened in 2005, currently offers:
- Four-court sports hall
- 41-station gym
- Group exercise studio
- Floodlit 3G artificial turf pitch
- Three grass football pitches
Mark Leahy, Regional Contract Manager at Everyone Active, stated: "This investment underlines our commitment to providing top-quality sports and fitness facilities for the community."
The contract spans nine years with potential extensions up to 19 years total. To improve accessibility, Everyone Active will offer:
- Free memberships for cared-for children and care-experienced young people
- Complimentary access for people with Parkinson's and their carers
- Discounted rates for:
- NHS staff
- Emergency service workers
- Full-time carers
- Universal Credit recipients
John Swift, School Business Manager, added: "The fitness suite refurbishment and 3G pitch resurfacing will vastly improve facilities for students and the wider Baldock community."
The centre will continue serving both The Knights Templar School's 1,450 students and the local community, with Everyone Active ensuring a smooth transition of services.
