K2 Crawley Secures Major Solar Panel Upgrade with Sport England Funding
K2 Crawley has secured funding from Sport England's Swimming Pool Support Fund to implement a solar carport scheme, addressing rising energy costs and improving facility lighting.
The new installation will feature 1,002 solar panels, complementing the existing 330kW rooftop solar system. This expansion will:
- Reduce reliance on the National Grid
- Save over 65 tonnes of CO2 emissions yearly
- Equal the environmental impact of planting 3,023 trees
Construction begins December 16th in the car park, with work expected to continue for several months. During this period:
- Car park sections will close in phases
- Overflow parking arrangements will be available
- Updates will be provided via council and K2 Crawley social media channels
Note: The facility will remain operational throughout the construction period.
